Need info on how to change name in California (Southern California)?

Does anyone know what%26#039;s involved with / how to go about changing your legal name in the state of California (in Southern California specifically)? I realize I have to file paperwork and have to have a hearing in front of a judge and I thought you had to publish an announcement in local papers - but does anyone have specific info on what steps to take and roughly what the cost(s) are? Thanks!|||It is pretty easy, but does require filing paper work with the court (superior court or county court in your area). Often you also have to publish an Order to Show cause in the local paper. The steps are laid out here:

If you are recently married and want to change to your spouse%26#039;s last name, you may not need to go to court, but rather just fill out a form.

Not sure where you live but the fee to file a name change petition is $355 in Los Angeles County.|||I just found this website. I haven%26#039;t a clue what they charge or how reputable they are. so use your own judgment.......
