Set up a new account using the user name you want. You can give it administrative privledges and then just stop using the original administrator account.

You can't change the administrator account - instead, create a new account with administrator rights and use that.

Incidentally, it's a very bad idea to use the administrator account for normal usage, for security reasons, and only slightly better to create a different account with administrator rights. Better to create an account with limited rights to use for day to day work, and only use an admin account for installing software etc.
I think if you go to control panel and then to the user section it should give you the option around there
click on the account name then the account type or something similiar in XP and you can change it, or should be able to.
Create a new user with admin rights and use it.
sometimes you cannot change the setting over the control panel and user account. and there are times that the %26quot;administrator%26quot; account name will not be displayed over there IF one user has already the full control of the computer usage. so now, if you had created an account and you want the previlege or you want the full control usage of that computer, click start %26gt; all programs %26gt; run (type this in the box) Control UserPasswords2. a pop up box will be displayed. highlight the word %26quot;administrator%26quot; click property %26amp; you will see if the administrator is now in full control of the computer (that's if the administrator is not locked with a password). if there is no password for that adm acct., set a password (as it is normally blank) and click OK. then highlight your own %26quot;name user%26quot; account and click property, give full control of your name same as the administrator's control. (of course you must have a password also for your account as it might be changed by another user. then click OK. this time, if there are other still users of that PC or the guests account is open, limit their usage, there are three options there to choose what kind of usage they could only do on that computer such as eg. guest can only save files BUT cannot download and install any softwares and programs and cannot change the setting. after you made all the changes there, then you are considered as the administrator of that PC though the name is different this time.

*the word %26quot;administrator%26quot; in any sense is unchangeable. this account was already created by the maker of that PC just in case for trouble shooting, all will be done by the administrator account or YOU as the administrator of that PC.

i think you got the point.
