How to announce name change after divorce?

I am getting divorced and am changing my name to one that I have made up/chosen. It is not my maiden name, but has personal meaning to me. I am very visible in my community through work and volunteer leadership - and was often accompanied by my husband, so many people are aware I am/was married. What is a graceful way to get through this difficult change? It has been traumatic, and I still tend to cry when people ask questions. I understand how to do all the paperwork, but not the announcing of the change and the handling of the well-meaning questions. Thank you.How to announce name change after divorce?Send out announcemenet cards letting people know that with your fresh new adventure in life you have chosen to take on a new name to get you started on your journey.

Hold your head up high, announce it and the only answer they need is you need a fresh start which included a new name.
Okay now I heard it all!

I suggest you get therapy!
be confident. a lot of women will look up to you. I wouldn't make a huge announcement but if people ask, stand behind yourself and explain if you feel the need
Throw a divorce party and re-celebrate your taking of your independence back!
Just tell someone and the word will spread. You know how people just LOOOOVE to gossip. Problem Solved!!!!!!!!!!!
how about using a combo of the two names for a year or so and then drop the married name part.
