Do I need to bring my name change documents to a courthouse?

I see where I can fill the documents out online- I went to www.civiltree.com it was 70.00. I don't want to buy them just yet--

Should I do it like this? How does it work when you change your name online? Do you then have to pay more to finish them with a Notary or and a courthouse?Do I need to bring my name change documents to a courthouse?Think about it...if this was totally legit, criminals and prisoners could do name changes for a new identity.

Go to your local court house and start there

You can't legally change your name without a court appearance.
i think you shoud ask your nearest citizens advice before doing it be carefull on internet can be a tricky world when putting everythjing out there.
Man, what a increase. I was changed ,back to my maiden name at my local court house. It only cost $5.00.I got my copy with the seal. And left. And just starting signing my name in my maiden.

What state are you from.

There must be other reasons for your name change to be sooo much!
