i am going to America next year but i am geting married a week on saturday, do i need a new passport or can you just change your name?How much does it cost to change your name on a UK passport?you have to do a renewal and its 拢72.00, im in the process of doing mine because i got married and changed my name and the price silly!!

if you wait until your renewal you can do it at the same time, and just pay the renewal fee (also 拢72) - however, if you intend to travel before your passports expiration get it done ASAP as they wont let you go unless your current name is on your passport

if its your unmarried name on the passport i think they will accept it anyway (oh, you are going to the USA, better change it, they go completely NUTTY about anything!! they even asked me HOW I GOT MY CITIZENSHIP when I was BORN on US TERRITORY!! they only ever waited to ask 30 years later when i had a US passport my WHOLE LIFE!) ARGH! anyway, you need to get a new passport just in case, they cost about 拢70 last time i checked..)
