Is it too stressful to change a birds name?

!Hypothetical question!

If you bought a 3-4mth old parrot which already had a name, is it possible to change the name to something you want or is it too stressful/confusing for the bird?

And if you can - how?Is it too stressful to change a birds name?anything that helps your bond with the bird is great. it could be a bit confusing, but birds are smart and will surely catch on.

try calling them both names at the same time for a while while making it very clear that you are addressing them. for example, if the bird's name is max and you want to call him... paco :-) say hello max paco right to his face. try this for a few weeks and he should catch on.

good luck!

Is it too stressful to change a birds name?
i wouldnt change the name unless it was absolutly nessessary because birds arnt an animal to confuse..id leave it
yes, if the bird was that young, you could probably change the name to something that sounded similar to his old name. ex: if his name was lola, you could change it to Coda. Something hat sounds similar, so the bird still hears the basic sound of his old name.
Just say the new name and give it a treat. Repeat 20 times! Done! You have changed their name. Every time you say that new word they will look at you for a treat. They like that word. :)
